Is your current job the one you’ve been dreaming about, or do you feel like it’s not the right fit for you?

“The biggest mistake that you can make is to believe that you are working for somebody else. Job security is gone. The driving force of a career must come from the individual. Remember, jobs are owned by the company; you own your career!” – Earl Nightingale

According to our recent LinkedIn poll, 30% of respondents shared that they are still in the process of discovering their passion, while nearly 40% stated that they would pursue their passion if they had financial freedom. Interestingly, on about 17% of voters expressed that they are currently living their dream job.

Here are a few points to consider in order to assess if you are in the right job:

1. How motivated are you to go to work every day?

Answering this question will help you assess if you are enjoying the work and feel you are accomplishing something. Reflect on how motivated you feel to go to work every day. If you genuinely enjoy the work and feel a sense of accomplishment, it’s a positive indication that you are in the right job.

2. Would you continue doing your job if you were Financially free

Imagine if you were financially free, would you still choose to continue doing your current job? If the answer is yes, it suggests that you find fulfillment and satisfaction in your work beyond financial considerations.

3. Do you feel like you are making an impact?

Assess whether you feel like you are making a meaningful impact in your current role. Consider if your work contributes to something greater and aligns with your values. Feeling a sense of purpose and making a difference can be indicators of being in the right job.

4. Sunday evenings don’t evoke a sense of unease

If you don’t dread Sunday evenings and Monday mornings, and these days hold the same level of excitement for you, it’s a strong indication that you genuinely enjoy your job. When you’re doing what you love, the days of the week become less significant, and each day brings a sense of fulfillment and enthusiasm.

5. You truly enjoy spending time with your coworkers

Sharing laughter, collaborating effectively, and feeling a sense of camaraderie with your colleagues can make your workdays more enjoyable and fulfilling. It fosters a sense of teamwork and creates a positive work culture where you feel valued and connected to those around you.

There’s a prevalent belief that work has to be dull, stressful, or frustrating, but that’s not necessarily true. In fact, there exists a group of individuals who genuinely relish waking up and heading to work every morning. For them, waking up on each workday is not a chore, but a source of excitement and purpose. They have transcended the notion that work must be monotonous or stressful, and instead, they thrive in an environment that ignites their passion and brings them joy. Are you among those who can genuinely say they belong to that group?
